Natural Dyes & Botanical Printing Workshop Weekend

  • The Art Lounge AK - Suite 3 300 East Dimond Boulevard Anchorage, AK, 99515 United States (map)

This is the perfect time of year for capturing all the lovely colors of fall on silk and wool! We will learn how to use a full rainbow of professional natural dyes that don’t fade, and personally choose your own color palette for two large silk scarves and one large wool shawl. We will learn advanced techniques including how to print on a colored background, mirror image prints, and how to use an iron carrier cloth for crisp outlines.

Saturday we will dye our silk and wool in a gradient of colors in the morning, break for lunch, then start steaming our first scarf in the afternoon. Sunday we will finish our second scarf, break for lunch, then finish with mirror image printing our wool shawl. Everything is ready for you, no need to learn on your own and waste costly fabric; this workshop is great for beginners and intermediate alike. Register in advance so supplies can be ordered, washed, and mordanted when you come. You can bring wool or silk yarn or fabric to exhaust the dyebaths at the end of class.
(12 student maximum)

Feel free to bring food and drinks if you wish, we have reverse osmosis water and a large tea selection for you. If you get a ticket and you can't come for any reason you are always welcome to come to another class, if you are sick please don't come and share with everyone, you can message us for a make up class. We want our classes to be affordable for everyone, unsold spaces will be offered at half off 2 days before class, you can call 907-341-9001 to check if a class is full and reserve your space.

We offer private parties, baby showers, and teambuilding events at discounted rates, call or message us for more info.
