Paint with Wool: Create a Stunning Felted Flower with Margaret (Part 2)

  • The Art Lounge AK - Suite 3 300 East Dimond Boulevard Anchorage, AK, 99515 United States (map)

Looking for a unique and creative experience? Join fiber artist Margaret Mackie for a colorful two-part class where you'll explore the beautiful art of wool painting. In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to create a vibrant, textured flower using fine Merino wool through the techniques of wet felting, needle felting, and embroidery.

In the first session, November 22nd, you'll discover how to "paint" with wool using the wet felting method—blending colors and laying down the foundation for your flower. In the second session, November 23rd, you'll bring your piece to life with intricate detail, adding texture and dimension through needle felting and embroidery techniques. From bold poppies to delicate sunflowers, each creation is as unique as nature itself.

No prior experience is needed, and all materials are provided. You're welcome to bring a photo of your favorite flower for inspiration, or choose from a variety of images we’ll have on hand. This class is open to ages 12 and up, and you're encouraged to bring snacks or drinks to enjoy while you create in a relaxed, supportive environment. Art is for everyone — if the class fee feels out of reach, I’m happy to offer a sliding scale or discount.

Come ready to explore, create, and leave with a beautiful felted artwork you'll be proud of!
